How to cross the language barrier

The Scotsman - 03 Sep 2024

This article by Catherine Quinn in Scotland's premier daily newspaper discusses how learning a language can help employees on business trips abroad.

"According to Cactus Language, which runs total immersion language holidays from a week to a month or more, students in situ engaging in round-the-clock interaction with native speakers take only ten weeks to pass exams which would take the average learner a year or two in their own country. "There's no doubt that being on holiday is the best way to learn a language" says Chris Moore, Head of Cactus Training. "When you are fully immersed in local language and culture, you have lots of opportunities to practice speaking and listening in real-life situations, which is essential.  It's best to mix general language skills with a course that covers some specific business language that you will need on the job."
