With the growing opportunities the Chinese market has to offer, and London being one of China’s favourite places to invest in, there is an increasing demand for Mandarin language skills, Chinese cultural awareness skills, and therefore Chinese training in London. While energy and commercial property are the sectors benefiting the most from Chinese investments, many other businesses are also attracting Mandarin-speaking investors. Examples of recent Chinese investments and partnerships include the largest single investment in the UK by a Chinese organisation with the 3,000$m investment in Barclays. There have been other significant investments in various organisations such as Pizza Express, House of Fraser, and Diageo. These investments are facilitated by the presence of large Chinese organisations in London including the Bank of China and the China Construction Bank.

Not only is London twinned with two of the largest Chinese cities, Beijing and Shanghai, it is also home to a substantial Chinese community, and of one of the most iconic Chinatown in the world. There are an estimated 125,000 Chinese residents in London, one-third of them being Mandarin-speakers.
