Monday, 24th May 2010

Buenos Aires is a fantastic city to visit at any time of year, but especially this summer…
1. Summer special offer
In a special offer for the summer (June, July and August) , one of our Buenos Aires schools is giving all students who study for 2 weeks or more free tickets to the fantastic La Bomba de Tiempo music show and Fernandezfierro Urban Tango Show. A great insight into Argentinean culture both old and new…
2. World Cup screenings
Everyone is going to go World Cup crazy this June. In recognition of this, our ‘9 de julio’ school will also be screening all the World Cup football matches involving England and Argentina on weekdays, and organizing parties to celebrate/commiserate too. What better place could there be to watch the games than in a place so passionate about, and famous for its footballing prowess? A once in a lifetime experience – especially if England win!
3. World Tango Festival
A dance that has become synonymous with Buenos Aires, the tango is simply fantastic to watch…especially when it’s performed by professionals! From 13th-31st August the world’s finest tango dancers will flock to the city to show off their skills – a spectacle that will get you itching to put on your dancing shoes!
4. Gallery Nights
Throughout the summer in Buenos Aires more than 70 galleries and cultural spaces in Buenos Aires’ trendy Recoleta and Retiro neighbourhoods open their doors on the last Friday of the month. Known as ‘Gallery Nights’, it attracts inhabitants and tourists alike who can peruse what’s on show with a glass of wine or two in hand.
5. Mi Buenos Aires Querible
Held from 1st -31st July, this festival shows off the heritage and cultural significance of 500 places across Buenos Aires’ 48 barrios. There are special exhibitions and workshops and guided walks that explore cultural centres, museums, monuments, parks, bars and other key spots. A great way to discover the city at its best.
If Argentina is a little too far for you to travel in pursuit of Spanish skills, fear not - there are scores of Spanish evening courses available throughout the UK and North America. If you need something more specialised to your needs, we also offer individual and tailor-made courses.

Great to see Gallery Nights included as a highlight in this post. They are one of the best ways to discover the authentic Buenos Aires.
For those interested, we've written a blog post about the Gallery Nights event here: http://www.therealargentina.com/the-buenos-aires-art-scene-gallery-nights/
Would be great if you had any comments or feedback.
