The best festival in the world?

There are weird and wonderful festivals all over the world. It is the Italian city of Perugia though, that plays host to what has to be one of the most heavenly festivals you’ll ever find…Eurochocolate.
For 10 days every October the Umbrian city transforms itself into a huge open-air chocolate feast…the kind of place that every child (and plenty of adults!) can only usually dream of…
Included in the festival are exhibitions, cookery classes, chocolate tasting, banquets and celebrations. Italy’s most well-known chocolate company Perugina (now belonging to Nestlé), known for their Baci sweets, is represented along with a number of other well-known brands, and every year chocolatiers wow the crowds with their impressive cocoa creations. In the past these have included an igloo made from 3,600kg of chocolate, and, at 7 metres long and 2 metres high, the largest chocolate bar in the world!
The festival has proved such a popular event that Eurochocolate has now been extended to other Italian cities such as Rome and Turin too.
If the prospect of such over- indulgence is giving you an attack of the guilts, why not take a language course to appease your conscience and ensure that your trip is as educational as it is indulgent? Courses are available all over Italy, although Siena, Florence and Rome would probably be the closest options for a day-trip or weekend visit to the festival…
