Looking for a crash course in a foreign language?
Monday, 22nd March 2010

There are many ways in which you can learn the basics of a foreign language in a relatively short space of time. Which one you choose really depends on what type of learning suits you best….or on how much time and money you have available.
A good number of people want to get a basic grasp of the local language before they head abroad on holiday or on business, and with good reason – speaking even a small amount of the local language will make it much easier to get by once you arrive, and will probably endear you more to the local people that you meet too.
Included amongst the ways to learn the basics of a language are online courses, self- study packs and cds, evening courses and last but not least, intensive weekend courses.
The last option is a relatively new development, and appeals to a lot of people who don’t have an evening to commit to an evening class every week, or who maybe lack the motivation for self-study options…
The ‘crash’ weekend courses are held over two consecutive Saturdays, and are designed to give students a clear understanding of key grammatical structures, common areas of vocabulary, and fundamental pronunciation patterns. There is a strong communicative emphasis to the course, allowing you to take new language outside the classroom from the very start. You will also gain real insight into the cultural context of the language as it is used across the world.
