Lindau – a new addition to Cactus’ German course locations
Monday, 26th July 2010

An exciting new addition to our range of German course locations abroad is Lindau, a small Bavarian city on the beautiful Bodensee (Lake Constance).
What is Lindau like?
Lindau is a small, friendly place with oodles of history and a beautiful setting on the lake. It actually sits on an island in the eastern part of Lake Constance, and has the stunning Austrian and Swiss Alps as a backdrop. Lindau has a very pretty old town, with plenty of churches, squares and renaissance-style buildings to take in. It also has a famous harbour, which is considered to be the most attractive on the whole of Lake Constance.
When’s the best time of year to go?
Lindau is nice all year round, but especially in the summer when you can sunbathe by the lake and make the most of the outdoor bars and cafes in the town centre. As you’d expect, it’s also in the spring and summer when Lindau is at its liveliest, with plenty of tourists and students who come to enjoy both Lindau and its surroundings. For ski enthusiasts though, Lindau’s proximity to the resorts of Obersdorf and St Anton make it an ideal winter destination too.
How easy is to get to?
There are lots of options for getting to Lindau, which makes it really accessible. The closest airport is Friedrichshafen, where you can fly to daily from London Stansted. Zurich, Munich and Stuttgart Airports are also close too though, and have good rail links to and from Lindau.
What courses does the school offer?
The school in Lindau offers both General and Individual German courses, ranging from Beginners up to Advanced level. The minimum course length is 1 week, but students can choose to study for as long as they wish.
What accommodation options are available?
Students at Lindau can choose between catered host family accommodation and a room in a self-catering student residence.
