Learning German, valentines in the way - week 5
Friday, 15th February 2008
This week I had planned to be all caught up and in the class, but I had to take the week off for a valentines dinner with my girlfriend.
So I traded that she would have to do a lesson of practice with me at the weekend.
Back at it next week, promise.

I once tried teaching English to my (now) ex-french-(slightly-psychopath) girlfriend. It was a disaster. Even though I was a trained English teacher, and she asked for help, it just didn't work out. We bought books, CDs etc etc but nothing did it. There was something fundamental about the fact that you're in a relationship, and being in another teacher-student relationship at the same time knocks the primary relationship out of kilter. I'd be interested to know how you get on with this, and whether there are any ways of guaranteeing success. Maybe it's just the French, but I've heard of other failures, and that the dominant language just prevails. Thoughts? Brian
