Cactus sponsors Innovation of the Year Award at the 2011 LTM Star Awards

Held every September, the LTM Star Awards honour the achievements of companies and organisations within the language travel industry. This year Cactus will be sponsoring the award for Innovation, something at the very core of our company culture…
Cactus was established over ten years ago, and in that time has continued to expand at an impressive rate. As a relatively small company, this has only been made possible by the hard work of our staff and the desire to innovate, and in some cases, pioneer at every stage. We pride ourselves on being a forward-thinking company, in terms of both our working practices and the products that we offer.
In terms of working practices, Cactus was the first company within the industry to take online bookings and payments from our clients. The original drop-down booking form has since been adopted by a number of competitors.
Product-wise, we constantly develop our offerings, and after starting out purely as an agency have grown into a renowned language training company that also provides our own range of course options. We now offer part-time and evening language courses and our own tailor-made and corporate programmes in addition to our role as a language course agent. We have a specific academic team in place to develop syllabi and maintain a high level of teaching across all programmes.
It’s not just new face-to-face courses that we have developed, though. In the last five years we have embraced the development of the digital world and have created both a series of Spanish podcasts to accompany our courses, and one of the first online English grammar courses for TEFL teachers. This product was nominated for a British Council Innovation Award in 2008.
Not content with growing our business in the UK and Europe, we also made the move over the Atlantic to the USA at the end of 2007. An office was set up in New York, and we have been working hard to establish new product areas to reflect the requirements ever since.
