Why investment in your employees could be essential to your business this year
Friday, 22nd January 2010

According to a recent study conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers, a third of British workers have felt undervalued by their employer during the recession.
The statistics stem from a poll of 950 workers, and also show that these undervalued employees would leave their current employer if they were offered a new job. Although this was a UK-based survey, no doubt the findings would be mirrored in other parts of the world that have also been heavily affected by the downturn in the economy.
The recession and flailing employment market have given relatively few employees options to change their job, but as the job market picks up things are likely to change. PricewaterhouseCoopers are advising organisations to look more closely at how to meet their staff’s needs and expectations, or risk losing them when the job market improves.
New Year resolutions and reassessments
The New Year always represents a time of reflection, and is the time of year when people are more inclined to make changes to their life – especially their employment. This, combined with the improvement in the job market could spell trouble for employers this year, unless efforts are made to re-instate a feeling of worth and reward.
There are many incentives that can be put in place to achieve this, but one particularly useful and popular incentive, especially amongst companies who work on an international level, is providing employees with language training. Not only does this help them fulfil personal ambitions, but it also benefits companies in that it adds value to their professional capacity.
Affordable skills training
With many companies still tightening their belts as they ride out the end of the recession, the good news is that language training can actually be done much more cost effectively than most would think.
