What are Cactus’ academic credentials?

As a largely commercial entity, people sometimes wonder what we offer at Cactus in the way of academic expertise and support.
The answer is this: We recognise that it is a truly essential component for any language training company or agency, and therefore have a dedicated in-house academic team.
Our Academic Department consists of three highly qualified individuals, who are all experts in teaching, and experienced in language learning. They are responsible for helping develop our language courses and resources, for offering ongoing support and training to our vast network of tutors and trainers, and of course, they are always on-hand to answer your queries.
Meet the Team

Formerly the head of Cactus’ TEFL department, Jenny is now our Academic Director. Jenny spent many years in Spain as head of a TEFL teacher training department and has extensive experience of this industry, including some years as a volunteer on various committees for the International Association of TEFL. She has also written a guide book for TEFL teachers in Spain - Teaching English in Spain. Her qualifications include a B.Ed in secondary education, a certificate in online training and the International Diploma in Language Teaching Management - she is also currently studying for a Masters in English Language Teaching at University of Sussex.
– Our UK-based Director of Studies, 
Rod, has a BA (French, Indonesian; James Cook University), a PostGrad DipEd (ESL/EFL/French; University of Queensland), and a Masters in Linguistics (JCU). Rod has close on 30 years of TEFL experience, Cambridge Speaking examining, linguistic research at UQ, JCU and Oxford, Torres Strait music research, computer networking, CALL and database development/management.
– Augusta is our US-based Director of Studies. 
Before joining the Cactus team in New York, she worked in a number of countries in Education, as a teacher, trainer and manager. Her qualifications include a BA in Modern Languages, an MA in Linguistics, and both the CELTA and DELTA certificates.
