The greatest sporting extravaganza on the planet comes to Vancouver

With less than a year before the greatest sports event in the world comes to town, Vancouver is basking in the spotlight that comes with hosting the Olympics. Come February next year, the city will welcome athletes and spectators from all corners of the world.

For two weeks the streets of this already cosmopolitan city will be transformed into a heady mix of people, and the voices and sounds will come from all corners of the globe. The more commonly used languages such as Spanish, French, Italian, German, Mandarin and Portuguese, will be joined by an exciting array of other less common languages such as Greek, Dutch, Finnish, Hebrew, Indonesian, and Swahili. And of course English, as the most-widely spoken language in Canada, will be in amongst it all too…

Why not brush up on some of those rusty language skills or learn a few words of a new language so that you can enjoy the fun on the streets so much more? A basic conversation or even just a few words can make all the difference. And don’t forget - learning another language will make those holidays abroad so much more fun too!

Cactus runs part-time evening courses in Spanish, French, Italian, Chinese and Portuguese at its school right in the heart of downtown.  The convenience of the location and the fact that the language classes are only for 2 hours, one evening per week, also ensures that taking the course is not going to be a huge commitment to add to the already busy schedule that so many people have today.

All teachers are native speakers, and fully-qualified and the emphasis is on making classes fun and interactive to ensure you stay inspired and motivated throughout the course. But, you also receive an End of Course Certificate if you complete the course successfully which can be a very useful addition to a resume in these times of globalization.

Cactus also offers a wide range of other languages (over 30 infact) that can be taught on an individual basis. This allows you the flexibility to decide when you would like the classes to suit your schedule, and what you would like to cover to fit your needs.

So enjoy the forthcoming sporting feast whatever happens. But learning a language may just help you enjoy it that much more…
