TEFL Course Feedback: Cusco

Cactus TEFL client Sally Clackett tells us about her TEFL course in Peru, and how life as an EFL teacher in South America is panning out!

TEFL was probably one of the more challenging things I have done although it was really good fun. I moved into an apartment here, organised by the school, along with two fellow TEFLers. You instantly have a circle if friends when you start the course which is great if your travelling alone. I found the TEFL course difficult at times, there is a high volume of work but overall it was good fun. At the end of the course there is definitely a huge sense of achievement. It is great to know you can take this qualification with you anywhere in the world.

Having finished TEFL I decided to travel for a while so I went off to Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and returned to see more of Peru. Before I left to travel I was lucky enough to secure a teaching position here at Maximo Nivel in Cuzco. Travelling around South America was fantastic, I have seen so much and there is still so much more to see. I have a two-week holiday while I am teaching to travel to Columbia and explore some more. I love being in Cuzco, the people are some of the friendliest I have met. There is so much history and culture here, you are never short of new places to see or explore. I have regular weekends away in and around the Sacred Valley with fellow teachers. The nightlife if crazy too with lots of bars, clubs and restaurants for everyone’s taste.

TEFL has made travelling very easy. It would be easy to secure another contract elsewhere in South America when I finish in Cuzco, TEFL definitely gives you options and flexibility.
