Sneak preview: NEW 30-week evening language courses
Tuesday, 13th July 2010

Academic Director Jenny Johnson tells us about the academic, exam-focused 30-week evening language courses coming soon...
Cactus will soon be launching brand-new 30-week language courses, which are ideal for people who have reached a certain proficiency in Spanish, French or Italian and now want to aim for a public, recognised examination to have official proof of their progress.
Rather than short, sharp 10-week / 20-hour courses, which are the current, extremely popular Cactus fare, these academic courses are for those who prefer to study a language in depth over a longer period, and who have long-term aims which include passing a public, official exam for work or personal reasons.
The courses are focused on the skills and techniques necessary to prepare for official, public examinations*. These exams are recognised by Ministries of Education in Spain, France and Italy, and are consequently highly prestigious around the world wherever these languages are spoken or used in international communication. The courses provide exam information and tips through exercises and tasks similar to those you will find in the exams, and include mock exams which provide practice with sample papers. The exams are often pre-requisites for university application as well as professional, well-paid employment such as language or literature teaching, translation and interpreting, international banking, accountancy and consultancy.
Achieving one of these qualifications improves employment prospects, as the skills learnt on these courses are transferable and prove intellectual capacity; they are therefore sought after by employers.
Cactus will soon be offering these academic evening courses at centres in London, so watch this space!
* Examinations covered:
Spanish: DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera)
French: DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française)
Italian : CELI (Certificato di Lingua Italiana)
Tags: dele, delf, celi, evening language course, italian, french, spanish

Good idea, but what about German? I have the Österriechisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch B2 (Mittelstufe), and I would like to go on to the Oberstufe.

Thanks for your comment Alan. Once the first 3 languages are up and running we will plan more languages. This will include German, but initially this will probably be at the most popular level, B2, which you already have.
Please keep posted for new courses and do let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.
