Malvern House Kings Cross centre launch

Last night, Germaine Broadbent from Cactus was lucky enough to attend the official opening of the magnificent new Malvern House centre at Kings Cross. Here are her thoughts…

Luke Simmons, Operations Director and Stephan Roussounis, Business Development Director had already billed it as the most modern centre of its kind in London, and having visited many ELT schools around London, I would have to agree with them.

The school was officially opened by Naresh Malhotra, Chief Executive of Malvern House and Tony Millns, Chief Executive of English UK. Mr Mills’ comments that the standard of the facilities at the new centre are something that the whole industry must move towards as English language teaching continues to grow, were meaningful.

The clean lines and minimalist interior are softened by the fact that the chairs in the classroom are the best looking chairs I have seen in a language school – comfy and wide! The touch-screen information screens for the students to use are state of the art, and the reception area is also welcoming and extremely functional. There is space for three students to be helped at any one time and a long comfortable sofa to seat those waiting to see an advisor. For anyone who has walked into an ELT school reception area at lunch or break time, you will know this ability to keep the queue down and help students quickly is a very good thing!

Students benefit from every classroom having a Smart Board & OHP, and there is a huge outdoor socialising area, incredible for a school just 5 minutes walk from Kings Cross station. But, as well as the school itself being amazingly equipped, after catching up with an old friend of mine – Jean Daruvala, Academic Director - I can be really sure of the integrity of the teaching here too! Well done Malvern House, your new school is a triumph!
