Launch of the Suzanne Furstner Foundation Scholarship 2009
Tuesday, 30th June 2009

On Thursday 25th June Cactus TEFL held its tri-annual ‘information evening’ at Eurocentres language school in London, and included in the line-up was the launch of the Suzanne Furstner Foundation Annual Scholarship.
The scholarship is funded by the Suzanne Furstner Foundation, set up in memory of the former head of Cactus TEFL, Suzanne, who was tragically lost in a road accident in 2006.
Each year applicants have the chance to win a 4 week TEFL course and 2 week language course in a specific country and this year the lucky winner will head to Italy.
The winner of last year’s scholarship, Georgina Newcombe, actually came along to the evening to share her experiences of studying in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Georgina’s blogs from her time there had kept us all entertained at Cactus, and the anecdotes that she shared in person were equally as amusing and inspiring!
The 2009 scholarship assignment is to write between 1,000 and 1,500 words on the topic ‘Six weeks in Italy’, interpreted any way you chose. In addition to this candidates will also be asked to complete a short language awareness task.
Entries will be accepted from now until October 1st 2009, and the winner will be announced at the London Language Show later on in the month.
