Cactus’ Easter travel recommendations

We’re emerging from the recession, and we’ve hopefully seen the worst of the disruptive bad weather. So, why not give yourself something to look forward to by planning a trip abroad this Easter?

There are hundreds of fantastic options for overseas travel, whether you fancy a long-haul break or somewhere closer to home. Some people might like to do a language course abroad as part of their holiday, whilst others might simply be looking for a week or two of relaxation.

Whatever the case, if you want to brush up on your language skills prior to your holiday, there are part-time 5-week, intensive week-long, or weekend ‘crash’ language courses available to do.

We asked our three of our language travel advisors what destinations they would recommend for an Easter break:

Stephanie Bon

imageStephanie, our English Language specialist, recommends New York as a great destination this Easter. Springtime is one of the best times of year to visit this iconic city – you can take a stroll through Central Park to see everything coming into bloom, take a tour of the usual tourist highlights and experience some fantastic cultural events, including the Tribeca Film Festival that runs from April 21st- May 2nd. If you come from the Americas and are looking to go further afield, South Africa is another good option – its temperate climate will offer some much needed sunshine at the end of the long winter, and you will get to see preparations for the Football World Cup in full swing!

Neil Stawarz

imageNeil specialises largely in European language courses and this Easter would recommend visiting one of the big cities that become very hot, or very crowded in the summer – such as Rome, Seville, or Madrid, for example. Alternatively, he suggests that you opt for somewhere with a warm climate, and nice beaches, such as Sicily, Sardinia, Mallorca or Tenerife. All of these places have the added benefit at this of time of year of hosting some of Europe’s most traditional and spectacular Easter celebrations too…

Alex Wolfson

Alex deals principally with our Spanish courses, both in Spain and South America. His suggestions for Easter travel destinations would be Valencia, for the impressive ‘Las Fallas’, fireworks festival, Costa Rica for a dose of sunshine and the chance to catch some waves, and Panama – a country that is fast becoming known as Central America’s ‘hidden gem’.
