Katie Bann of Cactus Language Training tells us about the exciting Survival Kits available this June only
‘The limits of my language are the limits of my universe’ - Ludwig Wittgenstein
This June, for the first time, Cactus are offering intensive language Survival Kits in four different languages and we are really excited about them! Being able to speeak some of the language when you go abroad helps you to really get to know a country in a way you simply can’t by not being able to communicate with people. Pointing and smiling will only get you so far - as my friends and I discovered when we stopped to ask for directions to an Italian Monster Truck Rally at a pizzeria near Milan (not an easy one to mime…), and were offered coffee instead.
On our Survival Kit courses you can learn the basics to get by in Latin American and European Spanish, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese and French, so that you don’t end up asking for albondigas if you vegetarian, or taking the road to the right when you’ve been told to go tout droit.
At £89, courses are 2 days in total, and take place on 2 consecutive Saturdays in June (12 hours total). They are available in Soho and Russell Square, London.
Here is what one of our Spanish teachers said about our Spanish intensive course last summer: “It was intensive but good fun. There was a variety of content and no time to get bored or tired; it was very dynamic. We did role-plays in the restaurant, shop and doctor, and I tried to cover all types of situation and little conservations you can have in Spain on holiday. I got the impression they achieved all the objectives I set up at the beginning of the course and I would recommend it as a very good introduction to Spanish.”
