Cactus Tapas Evening, London - 10th September 2009
Monday, 14th September 2009
On 10th September, Cactus students were invited to an evening of authentic Spanish tapas and Rioja in Piccadilly, London, to meet other students and find out more about the upcoming group trip to Malaga. Nadine Burzler tells us about the evening...
Due to a delayed train, our journey up to London was quite eventful. After rushing to get there on time, our stressful journey was soon forgotten when we were greeted by Bob, the Marketing Director from Malaga Instituto, and Annike, one of Cactus’ interns, preparing the delicious tapas Bob had brought with him from Spain.
Personally, I was very excited to see how Bob’s Spanish/British gastronomy would make its way onto the classroom tables, given limited resources!
As soon as we were set up, Bob put some Flamenco music on and struck a pose getting us all in a holiday mood. And then our guests began to arrive…
As soon as the class started filling up with Cactus students, we realised we could have done with a bigger venue - at least it would be cosy! The Rioja started flowing and soon everybody was at ease listening to Bob speak about Malaca Instituto - the town, the lifestyle, the customs and most importantly, in my mind, the food!
After a quick question and answer session, everybody was invited to drink some ‘Tinto de Verano’ and enjoy the Spanish cuisine, especially the ‘bocadillos’.
Overall the event was a success, with 20+ students attending all eager to hear about Cactus and Malaca Instituto’s heavily discounted group to Malaga.
