Cactus donates books to children’s charity
Monday, 7th December 2009
Making a charity donation is a great thing for any company or orgnisation to do, and there are useful options that involve more than just a straight-forward cash injection.
There are lots of ways to help charities, and in the case of education institutes and organisations, one such way is to donate unused textbooks and reading material.
The Read International charity comprises a network of regional student-volunteer-led projects that collect disused books from schools across the UK to send to schools East Africa. Any book not relevant to send (religious and political books for example) is sold online to generate funding, and if it can’t be sent or sold, they recycle it, generating more funding.
In the first donation, Cactus has been able to give over 600 books, worth in the region of £10,000 altogether.
