Working as an intern at Cactus
Monday, 10th August 2009
Doing a 2-month internship at Cactus was a great experience for me. I mostly worked in customer service, which was a really good chance for me to practise and improve my English.
Whether on the phone or via e-mail, I had a lot of contact with clients and also with teachers. My tasks varied from a competitor analysis to the organisation of the courses, students and teachers. I have improved my English a lot and I feel much more confident speaking the language, also in terms of business language skills.
I became integrated in the young and friendly Cactus team from the first day of my internship. I enjoyed the international atmosphere in the office, with so many foreign languages being spoken. I made friends very soon; we often met outside the work place as well to go out in Brighton.
The nice coastal town offers a wide range of activities. There are a lot of interesting shops, nice cafes and pubs but also the beautiful beach where I enjoyed the really hot summer when I finished working in the evenings. There is no day without a special event in Brighton, there is always action and fun, like for example Gay Pride which takes place once a year.
I enjoyed my stay in Brighton a lot and I will really miss the company and the nice people working there as well as the life in this lovely town.
