Cactus Language Training and Global Vision International join forces

Here at Cactus, we are very excited to announce our new partnership with volunteering expert GVI.
Through our alliance, anyone heading abroad to volunteer with GVI will have the option to undertake some language training with Cactus prior to beginning their placement.
GVI’s volunteering projects are available all over the world, and make it possible to get involved in one of many activities including teaching English, building schools and conservation work to name but a few.
Being able to understand and speak the native language will enable volunteers to communicate with the locals and enrich their time there by giving a true insight into the culture and traditions of the chosen country, helping to build meaningful relationships, grow trust and greatly intensify their role as a volunteer.
Volunteers have several options for their language training. One possibility is to take a language course in the country of their placement before they begin. Another option is to take a 10-week evening language course in the UK before they travel out. They can also opt for some individual, or small group, tailor-made training that can focus specifically on what they require language-wise.
Cactus’ language courses abroad can accommodate all levels from beginners to advanced and comprise 20 lessons per week. Depending on the learner’s existing language level and what level they wish to achieve, the course can run for 1-13 weeks. Group language classes take place in the morning, leaving the afternoons free to take part in social, cultural or sporting activities organised by the school, or to explore the town and surrounding area with new friends.
Cactus’ foreign language evening courses are offered in locations across the UK, the US and Canada. Curently, evening classes are available in 25 languages and at 41 locations in the UK, and in 12 languages at 7 locations in the US and Canada. They are generally available to do over 10 weeks, although some locations offer more intensive 5-week options too. Start dates for the courses run four times per year (January, April, July and October).
Cactus’ tailor-made language training divison has organised courses in over 25 languages, and in some 45 countries and 150 destinations worldwide. Choosing a tailor-made course ensures that you have the maximum flexibility in terms not only of your timetable and course location, but also in terms of what is covered in your lessons.
Neil Finnie, Marketing and Partners Manager at Global Vision International (GVI), says: “Partnerships rarely fit better than between the two organisations of Cactus Language and GVI. The ability to volunteer overseas is greatly appreciated, whatever skills you may have, but to be able to help and converse in the local language is a real added bonus. GVI know how to run worthwhile and successful volunteer programs, and Cactus know how to set up and offer great language courses overseas and in the UK. With the two having such a perfect match it was never going to be long before we realised the potential of this working relationship.”
