Cactus offers a range of technical language courses - perfect if you have very specific language needs relating to your work or personal interests. These courses are designed not only to improve your general language awareness, but also to address the very specific linguistic demands thrown up in many working environments. As a doctor, for example, you will need to ensure that the medical language you use is accurate at all times.
What will I learn?
All Technical Language courses are academically sound and promote long term aims with the language. The teaching is communicative, challenging, interactive, and will engage and stretch you.
The key focus will be to develop your language ability in a particular context. However, we believe that language cannot be learnt in isolation, and therefore you will also work on your command of general language skills. As part of this, you will take a systematic approach to grammar, vocabulary development, and skills work.
The sample syllabi below is designed to provide you with a good idea of what you might cover over a typical course, and include possible themes, grammar and vocabulary fields. It is flexible rather than prescriptive, in that it would be adapted to your specific level, aims and interests.

Cactus trainers are qualified, experienced, native-speakers. A number have experience – either working or teaching – from a wide range of specific sectors. We do our best to match the appropriate trainer you, and their flexibility means that you can take classes when and where you need, incorporating what you need.
Training Formats – How will I study?
The most popular training formats are 1:1, 1:2, and small group. We are also increasingly running blended learning courses involving a combination of different training formats designed around an individual's schedule and learning preferences.
