Cactus Opinion: Italian in Cagliari
Posted by Sarah under Cactus Languages Abroad
TEFL Course Advisor Laura Harrison tells us about her Italian course in Cagliari, Sardinia
For anyone wanting to sample that legendary Italian hospitality…and cookery, Cagliari is the place to go.
The school in Cagliari is a fantastic place to learn or improve your Italian. It benefits from a perfect city centre location, and is big enough to provide a good learning environment, but small enough that the atmosphere remains personal.
Both the teaching and the administrative staff are knowledgeable, accommodating and very, very friendly - they really go out of their way to ensure that your experience is a good one, which includes organising extra-curricular activities such as tours of the city, and sometimes visits further afield.
Although the main city in Sardinia, Cagliari is perhaps a little off the usual tourist track, which in my opinion only serves to add to its charm and appeal.
As you fly into the airport, only a short drive from the city centre, you will get a mouth-watering view of the spectacular landscape and clear blue waters that Sardinia boasts. There are plenty of beaches awaiting you in and around Cagliari that can be reached either by bus or by car.
The city itself is nicely compact, and almost everything is accessible on foot. One of the highlights is definitely the lovely medieval quarter of the city, with its fantastic architecture and wonderful sense of history. From here you can enjoy spectacular views of both Cagliari and its surroundings.
Cagliari has just enough bars and restaurants to make it entertaining, but not enough to make it a nightlife hot spot. It is a perfect location to enjoy the climate, take in a bit of history and relax on white sand beaches… you will discover one of the Mediterranean’s best kept secrets.

Laura works for Cactus’ teacher training department, Cactus TEFL.
Cactus offers Italian language courses in over 20 locations across Italy, and well as Italian evening language courses in the UK and the US.
