Cactus offers a great escape this Christmas
New range of specialist language holidays tempt Brits away from the Queen’s Speech
6 November 2007: Cactus, one of the world’s leading language training specialists, today unveils a series of new holiday packages designed for those wanting to escape the turkey and tinsel and try something different this Christmas. Travellers can choose from a range of destinations, from Salamanca to Salerno, and spend their yuletide enjoying the local celebrations and brushing-up their language skills.
The one or two-week trips are designed for people of all ages and every language level, from complete beginners through to fluent speakers. Students have the option of staying with host families, enabling them to absorb the local festive experience firsthand. They can also choose from a wide variety of cultural and culinary activities such as Epiphany parades, ice skating trips and Christmas cooking courses.
Granada is a particularly popular choice of getaway and offers students a unique, Andalucian twist to the festive period. Students can visit typical Spanish Christmas scenes and nativity exhibitions around the city, learn how to prepare the festive feast and soak-up the beauty of landmarks such as the Alhambra, whilst learning to speak Spanish in real-life situations.
Berlin is a must for those wanting a more traditional Noel experience, with students taking German classes in the morning and being free to roam the Mitte district in the afternoon, as well as taking a special trip to Dresden’s famous Christmas markets. Other activities include visits to Berlin’s breathtaking Christmas illuminations, baking classes or the opportunity to attend evening carol concerts at some of the city’s most picturesque churches.
Richard Bradford , Managing Director of Cactus, comments: “Many people dread the festive period which is why language holidays offer the ideal solution. Our clients are able to enjoy a totally different Christmas experience as an insider rather than a tourist. They can improve their language skills, meet like-minded people in a fun environment and return with a unique insight into another country’s festive celebrations.”
